Chapter 4

I stayed with Adan, our growing mutual attraction both terrifying and tantalizing. I helped him gather dirty dishes and cups, helped him drag the tables inside, then lock up and bleach the sinks. I was aroused watching the muscles in his arms working as he swept the floor. His business partner, Stan, who arrived to take him home, shook my hand warmly when Adan introduced us.

He was a tall, mixed-race guy, friendly, but distracted. He seemed relieved when Adan told Stan I was taking him home.

"Thank you, Pelo. My wife brought him here this morning, but she's nine months pregnant. I keep expecting an emergency phone call."

Adan sent him home, and we walked to my truck. I opened the passenger door for him, and his fingers briefly touched the waistband of my jeans. My cock leapt at the unexpected contact but I busied myself getting behind the wheel, angling out of a space that had become tight with two cars wedged on either side of me.

"Thanks for taking me home."

"I want to take you home, Adan."

He adjusted the seat until he was reclining and then closed his eyes. I so badly wanted to touch him, but I refrained. His eyelashes were long and dark against his cheeks.

"Are you just going to watch me sleep?" His mouth crinkled up at the corners.

"God help me, yes."

His smile widened. "You'd better concentrate on the view of the road."

"I prefer the view in here."

He laughed, and I loved knowing he'd released some tension.

"I guess I'd better get the car started then." Boy, was it hard to take my eyes off his face.

He opened his eyes. "I feel it, too, Pelo, but we should go." He reached over and put his hand on my thigh. "Man, I never thought I'd get your attention. For two days, I've watched you, fed you, given you extra opihi, and you were like a zombie."

"I noticed you, Adan."

"You didn't make a move on me." He smiled. "You do look like him, you know."

"Who?"

"King Kamehameha."

"This king just got out of prison."

His expression didn't change. "What were you in for?"

"Manslaughter. Car accident. A woman died."

"I'm sorry." His hand on my thigh squeezed me. "It bothers you a lot...what happened."

"Every day."

"You're a very loyal guy, Pelo."

That surprised me. Why would he say that? I was glad I'd told him, but I was devastated that he had to know. I felt thoroughly ashamed.

"You'd better kiss me Pelo, or we'll be here all day." Without thinking twice about it, I leaned over, and he opened his mouth. It was the most incredible kiss I'd ever had. Our mouths moved over one another with a reverence that took my breath away, our tongues caressing one another. It was the most erotic experience I'd ever had, and we were fully clothed. Man, we were making fire in that car.

He broke away from me, panting. "I knew you'd kiss like this." He gripped my face with fierce fingers and put his tongue in my mouth. We went at it for another minute, before he pulled away again.
